Oscar Sanchez, MD FAAPMR

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Dr. Sanchez joined the department of orthopedics/Rehabilitation Medicine at Denver Health Hospital in August 2019. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine from the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in 2005. He is double-board certified in PM&R and Brain Injury Medicine.

 

During his professional career, Dr Sanchez has worked in both academic and private health systems, bringing a breath of experience to our institution. He has worked as co-director of the PM&R residency program at Baylor, training residents in Neuro rehabilitation while he lived in Houston. Early in his career, he worked in rural Nebraska developing outpatient services for pain management at their regional hospital. Before joining Denver Health, he worked at Kaiser Permanente Colorado, as a staff physiatrist at their spine clinic treating patients with spine and musculoskeletal conditions from a non-surgical perspective including interventions for pain in the spine.

 

He is originally from Bogota, Colombia. He speaks both Spanish and English fluently and basic French. One of his passions is teaching the future generations of specialists in his field. He enjoys Colombian coffee, hiking, exercising and dancing.

 

He is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, member of the American Association of neuromuscular & electro diagnostic Medicine and member of the Interventional spine Society.

 

Dr. Sanchez has been named one of the “top Doctors” in 2017 from the 5280 Magazine in Colorado and received a teaching excellence award during his training at Baylor College of Medicine. His primary clinical focus is directing care for the acute rehabilitation consultation service along with an outpatient practice in electro-diagnostic medicine and spine procedures.
